After a lot more thinking, asking and planning, I got a more proper action plan now.

First, let me run through some context:

1. Kaby Lake and Ryzen
On the high end side of things, Kaby Lake is disappointing. We are talking about abysmal upgrades from Skylake.

But, things are a lot more interesting on the lower end: the Pentiums are now as good as i3s of previous generations and there is even an overclockable i3!

Also, more and more reports about Ryzen are coming out, indicating...

Unfortunately, the CLEVO servers suck big time, you'd be lucky if you were able to complete a download and even if you did, you may or may not be able to successfully extract the zip file.

Howdy folks. Been lurking on your fine forum for a week or so, decided to finally say hi.

Short history. I like to play games and have never cared too much about graphic quality.
When you've put as many hours into DF / Nethack as I have, anything looks pretty amazing.
Me and my Asus K54C have gotten along just swell for the last 6 years or so, but I've finally decided it's time to get something with a dedicated gpu.

This is usually the spot where "you should just build a desktop" guy...

Is Clevo for me?

hey folks!

i thought id post a summary on current data concerning thermal pastes. the data presented here was derived from this great article by der8auer (on air cooling):

P650RE died... now what?

So my brother's P650RE died and I'm pretty sure I've narrowed it down to the motherboard failing. Any way, he's in no position to buy a new laptop so I'm dusting off an old Sony from 2012 so he can get by but I need to figure out what to do with the dead machine.

Now I know getting it repaired would most likely cost as much as when I bought it, but I am wondering if any of the resellers sell just the motherboard, then I can just do the repair myself. This probably is still a bad idea with...

At first, when I was told that Clevo is using the same 15" keyboard from the smaller models in this large 17" laptop, I didn't think it would be that big of a deal, I thought I would get used to it with time...

Man, even after 3 months of using this laptop, I cannot for the life of me type a sentence without making 2-3 mistakes.

There is so much real estate wasted! I mean why for the love of God! They make the most powerful laptop in the world, then they put this piece of garbage tiny...

ClevoP870DM-G Nvidia drivers not recognizing 4K screen upgrade

I replaced the original G-sync enabled panel with a 4k non-G-sync panel a few months ago. After installation, the Nvidia drivers were unable to recognize the non-G-sync 4k screen and my 980Ms in SLI. I contacted @Prema and he sent a new system bios to flash. After that the Nvidia drivers were able to recognize both the 4k screen and my 980Ms without issue.

Today I updated my Nvidia drivers with a clean install using DDU to 376.33 and I ended up in the same state as...

HI.

I own a good loved five year P170HM from Eurocom, and I'm planning to buy a new Clevo.

What I want:
7th gen. Intel CPU
17" 120hz FullHD screen
Nvidia 1070
Aluminium exterior finish (I hate rubberized stuff)
Those screens with good color quality. When I bought mine it was called 90% NTSC color gamut. Don't know nowadays.
I have no plans to overclock anything.

Which model and reseller can offer me this? Can you guys help me?

I own a Clevo P750DM with GTX 970M. I have seen on Clevo website that P750DM2 has been released which has GTX 1070. So I want to know that can I upgrade my laptop to GTX 1070. I do know that the process may be complicated but is it possible?

What happened to my 6700k?

Hi guys!
By using the Intel XTU ,i find my 6700k reach the process current limit!

As the screenshots below:
I find the "Current Limit Throttilng" is "yes" and my 6700k's multipliers had drop down to 32x! Especially when i am playing 3d games such as "The Witcher 3".

My laptop is clevo P870dm3-g,how can i solve this problem? My Bios is the default clevo "Style Note",i had not find any settings about the current.

Any body know what happed to my 6700k? What happed to my P870dm3-g?...

Does Clevo P650 come with 1050Ti - yes or no? This I'd like to know, if possible.

To be clear, I'm not interested in the upcoming midrange model N850, because of the chassis and cooling setup. I'm also not interested in the P650, because it's heavier, hotter, louder, more expensive, requires much more power.

Imo the P650 with a 1050Ti would fill a sweet spot in price/performance/quality. So if it's coming, I'll pull the trigger. If not, I'll look somewhere else (actually a friend of mine...

After some extensive googling I found information about the new Clevo midrange series. So I thought I spoil the announcement party... :rolleyes: It looks like the previous midrange models (N150 and N170) will be replaced by totally new models, namely the N850HK1 (15") and the N870HK1 (17").

The N850HK1 (found here) looks identical to the recently announced Gigabyte Sabre 15:...

don't know how many people are still waiting for it and would prefer 6-8 cores over traditional 4 cores K desktop version. a X edition over K along with two GPU would push performance towards the highest end, what are the chances we see this in an upcoming clevo laptop?

few things to note here is that, HEDT CPUs are always playing the catch up game, however as we all know how slowly CPU are improving lately in terms of IPC barely 3-5% per year, not to mention Intel will not have anything...

Hi,

I've been a desktop user my whole life, but I'm looking to work abroad (currently in the UK, will be in Malta) so have decided to get a good laptop instead for the sake of mobility. I work as a digital artist with a lot of 3D applications so a decent CPU was a priority which is what eventually led me to Clevo machines with desktop CPU's in them. (I also wanna play games on it)

Currently I'm looking at the following machines specced with i7 6700K and 1070:

A couple weeks ago I was asking about BIOS updates that allowed VT-d options, to be told Intel's website is correct that this chipset cannot support these functions, despite having seen a report from someone who ran Qubes on one of these computers.

That is incorrect. No settings changes are required, and DMAR was configured by Sager. Simply put in a 2820QM or better and enable IOMMU in your Linux kernel's boot parameters.

The extra full-length mPCIe slot is all alone, and looks like...
