Clevo P650SE unable to output to 120hz monitor

Hi, i am unable to output my P650SE laptop with gtx 970m to an external Samsung 1080p 120hz monitor.
Using one of the mini displayport on the laptop the max hz i am allowed to select is 100hz.
Btw i am using a cable that is a mini displayport one end (laptop) and regular displayport the other end (120hz monitor).
