S/PDIF Optical or Coaxial

I purchased a Fiio E17K DAC to hook up to my new NP9758 (P750DM).

I went with the E17K because I read somewhere, here I think, that the S/PDIF port on the Sager 15 inch is Coaxial and not Optical. However, when I direct sound out the S/PDIF port, no sound is received by the Fiio.

I looked at the Specs on the Clevo site and they say the S/PDIF port on the P750DM is Optical. I asked Sager and they say it is NOT Optical. Doesn't the red light coming out of the port imply that it...
